The 4C concept made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The 4C concept was joined by Alfa’s latest models including the Mito and Alfa Romeo Giulietta at the show.

“As a designer, I am convinced by this idea,” Volkswagen Group design chief Walter de’Silva told Autocar. “We don’t have a space for another conventional MPV, but this one would be desirable on a different level, combining practicality with the heritage appeal.”

The Bulli concept, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, was a 6-seater EV, but the production version is expected to have only 5 seats and be powered by Volkswagen’s petrol and diesel powertrains. The Bulli is based on VW’s 2001 Microbus concept.

Volkswagen are facing increasing competition from Korean and Chinese manufacturers and the introduction of a Heritage range should give them an edge. The Bulli will most likely be built in Puebla Mexico along with the Beetle and Beetle Cabrio, due to debut next year. Volkswagen dealers can expect to wait till 2014 to see the Bulli in showrooms.

David Finnegan, a spokesperson for Ford has said: “Our dealers in those areas will be the first to have their retail orders scheduled and receive the Focus Electric. We will be rolling out to the remainder of our initial markets starting in Spring 2012.”

No details have been revealed as to why the LEAF and Volt rival will only been sold in California and New York.  The electric Focus is due to be launched in Europe in late 2012 so it will be a long time until we see the new Ford Focus in Slough.

The trip will take them through Europe, Russia, China and south-east Asia, let’s hope that roof holds up for the inevitable monsoon! Robert paid just £150 for the sports car back in 1966, I’m sure an MG dealer in London would pay much more for it now!

While the new Honda CR-Z was set to launch with a monthly target of 1,000 units sold, orders have already cleared 10,000 and is already close to reaching it’s yearly target of 12,000 units domestically. Perhaps it has something to do with how much better this little hybrid looks than any other:

However, there are a couple of snags. While this is a small, two-seater with plenty of aerodynamics, the new CR-Z surprisingly low economy figures. 36mpg in the city and 38mpg on the open road. Of course, these aren’t exactly low figures but by hybrid standards that’s pretty disapointing and it looks a whole lot better than the Ford Focus hybrid.

That being said, I reckon I could drive this new Honda in Slough and feel crisp, clean and green even in such an otherwise grim environment far more happily and less self-conciously than I could in an Insight or Prius. And that’s the beauty and bonus of this car. It’s not the most economical of hybrids but, as those early figures demonstrate, this is one with the looks and appeal that the majority don’t have and will actually sell.

Sure it may not save the planet itself, but by leading a larger market to the hybrid side, it will help those with more Green-Appeal find homes.

Comparisons have been made to the Scirocco R, as the two cars share the same engine, but the Leon triumphs over the Scirocco with five doors for added practicality, and lighter handling meaning improved performance and economy (the R boasts CO2 figures of 190 g/km and returns 34.9mpg).

It seems to have been worth the wait, however. This rather mean-looking machine will storm from 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds thanks to its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which boasts 261bhp.

To make it stand out from the rest of the Leon range, the new Cupra R will feature 19-inch, twin 5-spoke Potenza alloys, extended rear spoiler and black gloss trim and subtle ‘R’ badging. In addition, a selection of striking new paint colours, including metallic ‘Tribu’ yellow will be available.

The Cupra R will cost £25,205 when it goes on sale next month, undercutting the Scirocco R by a little over £3,000. SEAT dealer in London and the rest of the UK will be taking orders from 1^st April.

As part of the celebrations, the company have launched a special edition of the new Mazda3, known in Japan as the Axela, Sport 1.5 S Style.

With some impressive side spoilers and allow wheels giving it a far more powerful look than the standard edition, LED rear combination lights and dark tinted glass offering a sharp looking exterior, inside improvements include a leather-wrapped sterring wheel and a 4.1 inch multi-information display which offers up info for the audio, climate control, trip computer and other systems.

As great as the new Mazda3 is proving and as strong a looking car as this is, it’s unsure as to whether we’ll get to see this car joining the range of new Mazda in Swindon, say, as for now it’s only available in Mazda dealerships in Japan.

Let’s hope they do bring this special edition over to the UK or that they’ve got something else up their sleeve for us as the foreign market has to have been a huge part of Mazda’s success and it’s not like they’re a poor seller here.

UK customers will be taking receipt of their cars after January 1st 2011 and, if you fancy on of the most unique-looking cars on the road, you can now plug your nearest Mitsubishi dealer with the required sum. Yes, it’s technically marked up very close to 40k but there’s a government grant – courtesy of the Consumer Incentive Scheme – which will knock five thousand off the price.

Given that cars of similar size – such as the Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107 retail from around the 8k mark and that it will take about 13 years for the reduced running costs to offset the extra purchase price, I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that there won’t be too many homes willing to see their electricty socket in the garage get some extra use.

However, I think I know somewhere where you may see a fair bit of this new Mitsubishi; Oxford. I’ve been to the city of Dreaming Spires a few times lately and each time I do I see not only plenty of cyclists but a fair few hybrid cars. With its more pedestrian-friendly centre looking for something quiter and less polluting to motoring around the historic city. Step up the Mitsubishi i-MIEV. It’s a pretty afluent area – even for a student city, it is Oxford still – and so the sheer atraction of such a non-polluting, forward-thinking and queit, unintruding vehicle may go down very well.

The first of the Italian manufacturer’s cars to get themselves powered by an American hybrid powertrain will be the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (see how your spellchekcer feels about that name).

Currently, the Giulietta is set to launch with a selection of impressively punchy motors – the 1.4TB, 1.4TB MultiAir, 1.6JTDM and 2.0JTDM. If the buzz is true you can expect a Giulietta with a hybrid powertrain with two years and me at a Kent Alfa Romeo dealer within ten minutes of that announcement because if any car could lure me into switching it would be an Alfa and the implementation of an American hybrid set up should be sufficient to dispell those reliability questions.

My fingers are well and truly crossed on this and – while I’m not about to run out and consider the others – am glad that this is another major making huge moves toward alternative power. All they’ve got to do now is make the manufacturing process as enviro-friendly and we’re onto a winner.
